Cody takes to DC stage

With amazing dance moves and catchy songs, no one can help but clap and sing along to this Australian cutie. This summer of 2013, Cody Simpson has stormed the world with his Paradise Tour.

Simpson is from Gold Coast, Australia, where he recorded videos of him singing to post on YouTube during the summer of 2009. He was first discovered on YouTube by grammy-nominated record producer, Shawn Campbell. His rise to stardom began in December 2009 when he released his first single iYiYi.  He is currently on tour with his junior album Paradise.

While on tour, Simpson made a stop at the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, July 14. Along with him were two upcoming acts, Before You Exit (BYE) and Ryan Beatty. The concert began at 7pm when Toby McDonough (guitarist), Connor McDonough (guitarist), and Riley McDonough (lead singer) ran out to start the show. Beatty was up next in the lineup and the crowd was just as eager to hear his old songs as they were some new ones.

“We will have the album out soon because I can’t wait for you all to hear it,” said Beatty.

Beatty soon ended to give the screaming fans a break before the countdown began and the hall became just as loud again. 60 seconds later, strobe lights flashed and girls screamed as Simpson came out singing Be The One, a song off of his third album Paradise. With a new album coming out in less than two days, it was only fair to give all of his “angels” (his nickname for all his fans) a taste of what his fourth album, Surfers Paradise, would be like. He sang five of the twelve songs that were to come out on Tuesday, July 16.

Even though no one knew the newest songs, they continued to keep an upbeat attitude. Eventually, just like in every show, Simpson had an angel picked from the crowd.  Evangeline Pergantis walks out on stage and Simpson sung his song Angel as she eagerly sang along and danced with him. After an incredible show, Simpson ended the night with his song iYiYi where everyone joined in before he saluted the crowd and smoke filled the stage where he left.

Each performance was unforgettable. They were interactive with the crowd and there was never a dull moment. All the lights and catchy beats were irresistible.

Surfers Paradise hit iTunes at 11pm on Monday, July 15 and it went all the way to number three on the charts before midnight. It included songs like Pretty Brown Eyes, La Da Dee, and Summertime of our Lives. Simpson has done great things and this is only the beginning.
