Destination OC: Popular beach resort attracts thousands

 Ocean City, Maryland hosts a total of eight million people a year, a majority during the summer months. Around seven thousand people are lucky enough to call this town their home. With over two hundred restaurants, eighteen golf courses, one hundred and four hotels, and ten miles of sparkling sandy beaches, this town has endless possibilities of fun.

   Ocean City is only 3 hours away from Harford County and anyone can easily drive there.  The town of ocean city survives off of tourism which unfortunately causes this town to always be extremely crowded. Ocean City being a favorite tourist spot on the East Coast attracts a lot of people and hosts a lot of different activities for everyone to enjoy. Ocean City is a great place to spend time with the family or friends.

Jess Ruszkiewicz, a junior at North Harford says, “I love to go to the beach and tan and build sand castles with my cousins. It’s always just an overall fun experience.”

There are tons of family friendly activities to do while staying in this town. If it’s a hot day, escape the heat and visit Jolly Rogers Amusement Park and Water Park. Go jet skiing or parasailing for a crazy experience. Visit the board walk for endless games, stores, Ferris wheels and other fun rides. Not to mention the hundreds of stores this town has to offer.

Max Magness, a junior at North Harford says, “Putt putting is my favorite thing to do, but I like to go on the beach.”

Magness stayed at The Golden Sands hotel and said, “It was fun even though it rained twice while I was down there because we went and did putt putt, shopped and ate at a restaurant when it rained.”

Next time when the family doesn’t know where to go on vacation, visit Ocean City, Maryland. This fun filled place will not leave you disappointed.
