Brighten day with Sunny Day Café

Brighten day with Sunny Day Café

Nestled in between the dull, colorless shops on Main Street, Bel Air there is a ray of sunshine. The Sunny Day Café brings light and happiness to the dreary street.

The Sunny Day Café opened its doors on November 5, 2012, and has been hopping ever since. The café is opened seven days a week from 7am to 3pm, a perfect time for main street workers to grab a quick meal.  Having worked in the restaurant business for 32 years, owner Laurie Orfanidis combined her two favorite things through owning Sunny Day.

“I love cooking and being around people,” said Orfanidis.

She made her café as bright as the sun, with yellow walls, red booths, and cute personal touches. Orfanidis even named her café Sunny Day so her customers would feel the café’s warmth.

“It is something different and cute, I wanted the customers to feel happy,” said Orfanidis.

Sunny Day’s menu is as creative as her owner. The menu has everything a customer could want and then some. Customers can order something extraordinary, a crepe. They can order the crepe of the day, such as a black bottom crepe or create their own. Whether customers want something sweet like the nutter butter crepe, or something savory like the ham and cheese crepe, no customer goes home unsatisfied.

“The crepes are amazing! I tried a savory one and a sweet one, and they were both delicious. I can’t wait to go back,” said Colleen Martin a regular at Sunny Day.

The Sunny Day Café doesn’t just make crepes; they also serve other breakfast foods and lunch. Customers have an array to choose from, paninis, soups, salads, and sandwiches just to name a few.  The specials of the day can be found on blackboards around the café. It doesn’t matter what is ordered the staff will quickly prepare the food with a smile.

“I have been there once, I went there for lunch. They were very friendly, nice, and had good service. I enjoyed the food and I would love to go back,” said first time customer Margo Sybert.

Instead of making your own breakfast after a sleepover or football party go to the Sunny Day Café to lighten the day.  But beware the Sunny Day is “deliciously addicting,” according to  regular customer Lauren Martin.
