One Direction shows another side of them, Movie opens at number one

One Direction has done it yet again. Another number one hit, except this time, it’s not for their music. One Direction’s new movie One Direction: This Is Us soared to the top of box offices all over the globe within its first weekend.

With the perfect combination of music, special effects and back story, this movie turned out to be a huge success.

The band made it their goal to show the fans a side of them never seen before.

From the very opening scene there was never a dull moment. The movie opened with the band running onto stage at the beginning of one of their concerts. With about half of the movie being concert footage, fans were given a closer look as to what happens on stage since not everyone has the opportunity to have amazing seats.

In addition to concert footage there was an abundance of information about their personal lives. Throughout the movie the band just kept repeating how they “never expected any of this to happen” and how they’re just normal “lads.”

“It was really cool to be able to see them in a new light. They’re just normal people living their dreams.” said junior Becky Jump

However, most average 20-something year olds wouldn’t be able to afford to buy their own mother a brand new house, like Zayn Malik did.

Several scenes of the movie were very sweet and sentimental including the unveiling of the Maliks’ new house.

From sadness to screaming, this movie invoked just about every emotion on the spectrum. The movie showed the band racing around on golf carts backstage, minutes before a show, to the shrieking of girls in the audience. Also, the director was careful not to leave out footage of fans. The movie showed how crazy their lives really are. At one point the five boys were even stuck in a small department store for more than three hours because of the mob of girls that collected outside.

Not only was the content of the movie interesting but the special effects were awesome.

“The special effects were breathtaking and the 3D was phenomenal. I especially liked when they turned the band into superheros.” said Jump.

During one of the live performances the entire band was “transformed”

The movie was a huge success in the box office. Earning 15.8 million dollars its opening weekend, this movie has already surpassed Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience and is expected to surpass Katy Perry: Part of Me in the coming weeks.
