Coach Bayne: “Well, I think that being a student athlete helps structure your time especially after school; there’s a lot of discipline, self-motivation involved structure to it so… a lot of student athletes by structure and discipline are able to kind of translate those skills to the classroom to achieve better academic success.”

Captain Casey Welsh: “It’s really important to have good sportsmanship especially in Cross Country because sometimes people will have a bad race, or they need like a pick me up, and it’s really helpful to them and so your team should have good chemistry if you’re always there for your team mates.”

Coach O’Leary: “17 boys and 21 girls tried out.”

Coach O’Leary: “No cuts”

Coach Bayne: “A total of 40 between the girls and the boys.”

Coach O’Leary: “It looks like, I mean that is a fluid thing in Cross Country. It can change from race to race because some days people have a good race and other days people have bad races, but it looks like we will have anywhere from 3-5 freshmen that could potentially be on our top 7 and that’s the boys. Now the girls is sort of a different matter. We don’t hardly have any freshmen girls. We have a bunch of sophomores and like 3 maybe… 2 or 3 are in our top 7.”

Captain Casey Welsh: “On the 26th  we are running the Bull Run which is like a huge invitational and a ton of different teams come and it’s the hardest… one of the hardest courses on the East Coast so that’s a really awesome meet to come to if you want to.”

Coach Bayne: “Also once October rolls around we have the Chesapeake and UCBAC Championships where we are hoping to compete at a pretty high level there.”
