Davids demolishes competition

Even though rugby is not a sport that seems popular at  North Harford,  we better pay close attention to  Addy Davids if we want to learn a thing or two.

Davids has been playing rugby for 5 years. “I play on a competitive rugby team, and we  travel from Maryland to Virginia.” When asked if there are any rugby teams here in There are few opportunities for those interested in the sport in Harford County.  According to Davids,   “There’s no rugby teams in the county except for mine.”

David’s team travels to play schools like West Carroll, in Carroll County and other places in the region. “The closest one is in West Carroll which is in Carroll county,” explained Davids.

Everyone has to have something that inspires them to do what they love doing, and Addy is no different. “My favorite thing about rugby is that I love that it’s a contact sport, that’s so competitive for girls,” Davids said. Her least favorite thing about is that “Sometimes fights happen over it just being aggressive.”

Like many athletes, Davids likes to excel.  “I usually will start in all of my games,” Davids said, who said it’s her love and compassion for rugby that keeps her motivated. “I don’t know, it’s the best sport ever. There’s nothing like it, so I love the team and everything about it,” Davids exclaimed.

Davids attended the USA U17 rugby camp, “I went to the USA U17 camp in Georgia. A lot of girls my age are trying to go to the Olympics, or go pro,” Davids said.  While she does not planning on going pro, she said she still has “a lot of years ahead of me to achieve and try to work my way up there”. “I kind of want to be a US eagle, and be able to go to the Olympics,” Davids said.

On the field, Davids is a flanker, a position in which she is usually the one who tackles the opponents who are trying to score. “…i’m the one who tries to tackle the big girls.”
