Pixar roars once more

Although the students at North Harford are living up their free and independent summers, they still embrace their inner child. Pixar’s Monsters University, directed by Dan Scanlon has been roaring its way through theaters around the country and the North Harford area.

With a rating of 7.8/10 (IMDb.com) the film has been a hit all the way around, taking twists and turns down a road ending in an unlikely friendship. The two old favorite monsters from the first film, Monsters Inc. which was released in 2001, shared their story of trails and road blocks which led them to be the top scarers there ever were.

“What astounded me was the creativity throughout the film, the effort that had gone into the university environment and the monsters that inhabited it,” said Joe-Joe San, movie critic, IMBd.com.

Pixar surely is famous for their creativity, being one of the only feature film companies that only produces one movie a year, they certainly didn’t disappoint with the newest edition to their repertoire.

“It was so adorable,” said Julianne Nutzel, senior at North Harford.

Although Pixar focuses on children’s’ films, this family flick has, kids, parents, grandparents, and just about everyone else laughing and routing for the two classic underdogs that make a less than likely pair.

“It was so funny; I loved all of the backwards references to the first movie. It was cool how it had to be back written to fit the first movie,” said Juliana Giro, junior.

Writing a prequel to a movie can be tricky but the writers at Pixar certainly put their best foot forward to make the sequel just as good, if not better than the original. The characters stayed true to themselves and the heartwarming theme of believing in oneself was truly prevalent throughout the film.
