An annual event held at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland and hosted by WPOC 93.1  sold out once again to the country lovers all around maryland.

This event has been around since 2001 at Oregon Ridge then moved to Merrieweather in 2002 according to Micheal Jonair, who wrote an article called “The History of WPOC Sunday in the Country!”  He said, during the years 2014-2016 this event got so big they turned it into a two day event. The 2019 Sunday in the Country event sold out all 19,319 seats, allowing this event to be one of their biggest.

On September 29, the festival started at 1:00pm when the gates opened allowing people in to check out their vendors and sponsors.  While everyone was setting and finding their spots Lauen Alaina kicked off the night.

Following the opening act was Jimmie Allen, Brandon Lay, Filmore, Micheal Ray, Jordan Davis, dylan scott, then finally Old Dominion.

While the concert was an hour or more away, a few people from North Harford High School did attend.

Tickets for the 93.1 event ranges from $55 to $300.

This year’s  event was a hit one with over 90 degree temperatures.  While there were misting fans for the people in the pavilion, people like Maddie Conrad had to prepare for the hot day by “drinking lots of water, and wearing shorts, a flannel and a tanktop under the flannel in case it was hot.”

While they were both in the pavillion Smith prepared for the weather by “drinking lots of water before and bringing our own in to stay hydrated.” and Crone prepared by “wearing light clothes, drinking lots of water, and wearing the right shoes because you’re standing a lot.”

Brayden McCartin and Brenna Rose also went to SITC. Rose expressed her favorite part was being with her friends because it makes the whole experience better and MacCartin said he liked the environment.  But not everyone’s highlight of the night was the headliner.

“My favorite act was Jimmie Allen because he walked right in front of my row and I could touch him,” said Crone.

Crone added “Dylan Scott was my favorite because I hear his songs on the radio more often so I knew more of them.”

Although some people think this seems like a very fun event, others have different experiences and opinions.  While Smith and Conrad both said they’d go again because they can have fun with friends, enjoy country music and meet new people, Crone would probably not go again because of the drunk people  and the bad experience she had with the people in front of her.
