Positive pregnancy tests sold on craigslist

“Wanna get your boyfriend to finally pop the question? Play a trick on Mom, Dad or one of your friends? I really don’t care what you use it for,” said a craigslist post advertising sales of positive pregnancy tests.

Across the country, women are selling positive pregnancy tests online in hopes of making a few quick bucks. This particular post from Buffalo, New York advertises the tests for the relatively cheap amount of $25, but tests are being sold for up to $40.

There are many reasons why people are buying these tests. In one particular example, a Los Angeles teacher wanted a “positive” result for use in a video she was making about teen pregnancy (washingtonpost.com). Also, as suggested in many ads, women use the tests to pull pranks. If someone desired, they could use the tests to manipulate boyfriends or exes. In a craigslist ad searching for a positive test to buy, a woman talks about getting back at her ex-boyfriend.

“I am so done with him and angry and don’t want him back but would like the last laugh out of this. I will give some girl $40,” said the post.

According to research from CNN, most sellers reassure their customers “It isn’t my business what you choose to use it for.” This no questions asked policy has quickly made buying and selling positive pregnancy tests a very popular fad.

“Pregnancy test companies should pre-make positive pregnancy tests to avoid the unsanitary risks,” said senior Josh Garcia.
