A new Hawk flown into to Pylesville, Maryland. Mrs. Sabrina Fellenbaum, the new band director, has been working with students since mid August when she held her first band camp for members of the marching band.

As a member of the music department, Fellenbaum is in charge of  the marching band, the symphonic band,  guitar ensemble, chamber music, music theory, music tech, and jazz band.

Fellenbaumsaid that she has already seen that  the band students are  talented and hardworking. “Everyone seems to work hard and really care about music,” said Fellenbaum.   She also said that the  faculty and some of the students are interested in the band and believes it’s cool.

Fellenbaum sees her job as really fun. “This is the job I always wanted.  I wanted to have a marching band of my own.”  To her, this is her “dream job.”

This year, the band has a lot of new students, which Fellenbaum said is  exciting.  She said their are talented musicians and she’s looking forward to seeing “… how everyone can improve, especially with marching band. I’m excited to hear how everyone hears once we get the symphonic band together.” Overall, she see’s the band as a strong group.

There are quite a few advantages of joining band. Fellenbaum believes it is really fun and a great way to make new friends “It’s a good way to make new friends, especially freshmen and new people. You get to meet people at band camp; So you already know everyone who’s in the band when you start school.” To Fellenbaum, band is also a way to do something outside of school. “It’s about more than just learning music and it’s kinda about learning how to be a person.”
