Mrs. Evelyn joins North Harford staff

In an already fairly large department, one more new face has joined the crowd.  Mrs. Evelyn, an Ohio native, has come to North Harford with plans to help co-teach in the Math department.

“I just love math, and I would love to pass that love of math onto other students that don’t like math, they struggle with it, and by showing them the simplicity of it will hope they learn to love it too,” Evelyn said.

This is not Evelyn’s first time teaching, though; she used to teach in elementary schools. The biggest difference she has noticed thus far is the size of the school.

“You quite quickly get to know the students and their families and obviously that’s much different than this large environment,” Evelyn states.   The special education teacher’s goal is to get to know as many of her students and their families as she can in her time here.

As Evelyn rolled up to North Harford, she had a sort of “blast from the past” saying, “Wow! This kind of reminds me of where I went to high school. It was a rural school where many of the students came from farm families and so it kind of felt like I was coming home.”

Evelyn says she loves the two dollar salads and the chance for her dog to be groomed on Fridays. But her favorite thing about North Harford thus far is the largeness of the school and the age of the students. “I always dealt with elementary schools kids, so it’s nice to get to deal with and teach older kids.”
