One of the most exciting times of year is upon us, when the whole community comes together in an effort to spread school spirit. In the midst of every pep rally, football game, and school dance, homecoming season is just one of the many reasons why being in high school is the greatest.
What’s better than being part of a community in which everyone comes together? I’ll answer that for you: absolutely nothing. There is no better symphony than hearing the cheers and chants of my fellow students at every sporting event, cheering on the Hawks to victory. With the changing of the seasons comes the great sense of brotherhood as our entire student body joins to form an unbreakable bond.
Being in high school is so much more than becoming valedictorian and earning your varsity letter: it’s about creating memories and friendships that cannot be broken. Here at North Harford, it is not uncommon to see our students come together during a time of need. Whether someone is facing a deadly illness or just having a bad day, it is always certain that someone will be there to support you.
And in my opinion, that is what homecoming season is all about; the entire North Harford community uniting as a family to celebrate not only being part of the best school in the world, but to celebrate each other. In the past four years, I have felt nothing but love and pride for my school. My high school experience has taught me far more than I have ever imagined it would, and I’m not just talking about what I have learned from textbooks and lectures. I have learned that it is okay to be yourself, and that not everyone is going to see eye-to-eye in most situations. But, I am lucky enough to be part of a school that not only encourages uniqueness, but thrives off of it.
With the homecoming festivities quickly approaching, it is that time of year where it means so much more than dressing up for spirit week and singing the Fight Song, it means reuniting and remembering why North Harford High School is the best school out there.
