Obama delivers speech filled with broken promises

According to cnn.com, 31.7 million US citizens tuned in to listen to President Obama’s chronic lies and broken promises on January 20. Obama delivered his 59 minute and 57 second State of the Union address before the entirely GOP-controlled Congress, something that has not happened in over a decade. With more Republican opponents than he has ever faced during his presidency, Obama had high expectations to meet. Unfortunately, the President dropped the ball.

The State of the Union address is a designated time for the President to inform the public on this year’s plans to govern the nation, unfortunately Obama’s speech was delivered more as a campaign for a new term– thankfully there will not be a next term.

“We are all our ‘brother’s keeper,” Obama stated. Sound familiar? Probably because the first time the nation heard all of Obama’s claims was six years ago. The only difference? It had superficial plausibility because his presidency hadn’t started yet. It’s pathetic to think that Obama believes this material to be fresh and original because in reality it is overused and honestly, much of America is tired of  his deception.

There were many critical points President Obama addressed, an important one being education. President Obama has proposed the idea of making community college free to some students. This plan is estimated to save over 9 million students over 3,800 dollars a year but who’s going to compensate for the loss of income? Taxpayers. Although the majority of the cost would be covered by the federal government, state taxpayers would have to pay over 25%. But truthfully would the education really be free? Who’s going to pay the professors salary or for the expensive textbooks required? So President Obama, how about instead of making community college ‘free’, fix the broken public school systems and better prepare the students for life after school, enhance their ability to earn scholarships and provide hands training in trade work for those not planning to attend college. And if action must be taken to help those unable to afford a higher level of education, make the college application process easier and allow the Pell grant program to be available year round.

President Obama touched on the issue of childhood obesity. He reports that obesity rates have been down for the first time in 30 years thanks to First Lady, Michelle Obama’s ‘Let’s Move’ partnership with schools, businesses and local leaders. How convenient that the numbers are down since Mrs. Obama infiltrated public schools with her unfortunate menu and untasteful meals. The truth about it is students are probably losing weight because they have chosen to skip meals instead of eat the awful lunches. Although childhood obesity needs to addressed there are larger and more important topics to be fixed.

Throughout his speech, President Obama contradicted himself and was entirely hypocritical. For someone who wants to work with his Congress and set aside political differences in order to better the United States, he threatened to veto decisions quite often.

The flaws and lies in President Obama’s speech were abundant. For example, Obama stated “for the first time in a decade” progress in the Iranian nuclear program has been halted and Iran’s enriched-uranium stockpile has been reduced. According to nationreview.com, Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium has surged since 2009 and has continued to increase since an interim nuclear agreement with Iran was agreed to in November 2013. The State of the Union address is a prestigious speech, one that has no room for any deception or lies.

Thankfully, Americans only have two years left of Obama’s presidency, meaning there will only be two more addresses filled with broken promises. The countdown to 2018 has begun.
