Lack of privacy due to loitering

GARRETT STURGILL, Reporter

There’s nothing worse than coming to school to see twenty people standing in front of my locker. The ideal morning is having a bagel, sleeping on the bus, and having no one swarm around my personal space. Seeing my locker eaten up by the presence of others automatically makes me aggravated. For example, consider when I say “excuse me,” and then they proceed to stand in front of my locker, making me a little uneasy. It’s like, “hey, you’re standing in front of somewhere you don’t belong. Want to move?”
My area being free of people provides equanimity knowing I don’t have to waste my voice saying “please move.” With these locker blockers, the issue only becomes larger by the year. Last year it was tolerable to an extent, this year they’re everywhere. You can barely walk through the hallway without having to dodge one million bodies. It’s as if they creating a road block and want you to travel on a back road which would take twice as long. Is this loitering necessary?
Personally, I don’t see the need for grouping up in the hallways and sitting there for half an hour. What do you talk about in school at six AM? What today’s lunch is going to be? What classes you all have? What your favorite classes are? I genuinely can’t comprehend what’s running through anyone’s minds. I would prefer sleeping in homeroom than sitting out in the hallway with people every morning.
Now I don’t mean to come off harsh but please remove your bodies from my locker. Another issue regarding this loitering is when the people who usually loiter at my locker have the audacity to bring their significant other and stand in front of my locker. I must be pretty cool if everyone likes to hang around my little home in school where I keep my belongings. I will take the compliment but not the crowd in which comes with it, you know?
School lockers consist of your personal belongings in which you probably don’t want anyone to hang around. How would some of you loiterers like it if I brought my friends and stood in front of your locker. Didn’t think of that one, did you? I swear a new student from across the country ends up hanging out in front of my locker every day. From me to you all, it’s nothing personal. Just give me my space.
