Sunday in the Country draws crowd

Sunday in the Country took place on Sunday, September 30 at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Many people attended to join in and listen to their favorites in country music, including Dan and Shay, Dustin Lynch, and Brett Eldredge!

Seniors Olivia Walton, Jay Dilworth, Jack Palmer and Junior Hannah Smith were only a few to take part in jamming out to some of their favorite songs while they basked in the beautiful Sunday weather.

Walton had floor tickets and was front and center with each artist. She also met up with her friends and enjoyed performances from the lawn, an area where people can purchase cheaper tickets, bring their own seating, and still having a blast.

Walton and her group even met new people from other schools and she described her experience as “very fun.” Her favorite performance was Dan and Shay.  “They just make concerts more exciting” said Walton, who has also attended a Luke Bryan concert at the same location.  She added that the Luke Bryan concert was more “enjoyable and not as rushed as Sunday in the Country,” despite being able to see more performers at one time.

Palmer also attended Sunday in the Country and commented that “going with a group of friends makes it more fun.” Palmer includes that his favorite performer was Dustin Lynch because “he was awesome and put on a great performance.”  His overall opinion was that SITC was very entertaining and you “get to see a little bit of many performers,” adding that he’d definitely go again.

Dilworth said he enjoyed many good performers but his favorite artists were Dan and Shay. Brett Eldridge added they “put on a good show for the audience.” Dilworth said he went to the concert to see Sam Hunt, Luke Bryan, and Jon Pardi specifically, but ended up being impressed with all the concert had to offer. According to the senior, he is interested in going again next year.

Finally, adding to the Hawks that joined in on the fun, junior Hannah Smith agreed with Walton and Dilworth. Smith’s favorite performance was done by Dan and Shay. s Smith says “It’s[SITC] different than other concerts because it’s an all day event, seeing and listening to many great performers.” She enjoyed the concerts with her boyfriend and wished her friends were there with her to experience the fun, adding maybe next year which she hopes to go again.
