      Spooky season has officially begun.

Students are preparing for an action-packed holiday, whether that includes decorating, finding costumes, or making plans for the 31st

Junior Haley Stone is very excited for the upcoming season. “Costume-wise I’m being a pirate this Halloween… I already have everything planned out on Amazon and I have my Pinterest board set up, so I know what to do for makeup, hair, and anything else.” Stone also said that she was excited to decorate her house and go to friends’ houses for parties to celebrate.

Claire Johnson, junior, also agreed that Halloween was going to be great this year. “I’m going to be a fairy this year, kind of like Tinkerbell. We decorate with a lot of candles that have fall scents and lights that we put up. My family is also going to be painting pumpkins.” Johnson also agreed that she was going to be hanging out with friends and family for the holiday.

Juniors Sierra McManus, Lillian Duffy, and Colette Rodgers are very excited to show off their costumes this year.  Duffy said, “I think we’re all really excited to show off our group costume this year. We took a lot of time to pick everything out and coordinate what each of us wanted to do. We were planning on going to a party or having a get-together with friends to show off our costumes.”

The girls were also thrilled to put decorations up and carve pumpkins. McManus said, “My mom gets so excited about decorations, she puts them all over the house. She usually gets pumpkins that my brother, sister, and I carve the day before Halloween. It’s honestly just such a great tradition that we have that I hope we do for a long time.”

These students aren’t the only ones getting pumped for Halloween.

Junior Isabella Southard said she was planning on dressing up as a character from Golden Girls. Maggie Dawson, freshman, said she was planning on possibly doing a group costume with some of her friends and being funny clowns. Freshman Katie Jones said she was going to go trick-or-treating in onesie pj’s.

When students from North Harford were asked whether they were planning on doing anything for Halloween this year, 75% of voters voted that they were and 25% voted that they were not. While the majority of students said that they were going to parties or hanging out with friends, a few others said trick or treating or game night traditions.

In another poll, 66% of students from North Harford answered yes when asked whether they were dressing up for Halloween this year, and 34% said they were not dressing up.  Some students had no clue what they were dressing up as, but a few students have already come up with ideas.

Halloween is on Sunday, October 31st this year, and people will be dressing up and having a good time!
