Girls soccer stands strong through two games.

North Harford girls soccer team kicked off their season at St. Pauls. The girls lost in a defensive struggle that went into overtime and ended 1-0.

Bouncing back quickly, the Hawks hosted Aberdeen at home on Friday night. The game went well for the Hawks, who won 3-0, with goals by freshman Lindsey Young, sophomore Kaylee Holliger and junior Meghan O’Donnell.

“Beating a team twice in a season is always tough. Aberdeen had solid talent and they were very physical. They played very determined, they didn’t want North Harford to beat them twice,” said coach, Mike Auth.

Girls varsity soccer is very young this year with a surplus of underclassmen playing on varsity. Currently there are 13 juniors and seniors, and 11 freshman and sophomores on the team.

The team is anchored down by captains and returning seniors Tessa Mirjafary, Nicole Latgis, Katie Clark and Caitlin King and their coaches Mr. Tom Berg and  Mr. Mike Auth.

Last year’s girls finished 11-4-1, tying rival C. Milton, 0-0.

“C. Milton, Fallston, and Bel Air are big games,” said Auth, “We haven’t been able to score against C. Milton so that will be a challenge this year.”

In the next few weeks, the Lady Hawks have a few key matchups against Elkton and Harford Tech. The ladies will host Bel Air in a big game on September 25.
