The fall season for sports is winding down to an end and North Harford just in time for all the winter sports to begin.

Girls basketball started up the week of Nov. 15 with tryouts on the 15, 16, and 17 of that week and practices immediately followed.

Senior Sarah Huller is one of the managers for the team that also played in the 2019-2020 season. Huller “always looks forward to watching the games,” because it is a fast paced sport and one of the most ”..entertaining games to watch.”

Huller loves how even though she is not physically on the team playing, she still feels as though she is a part of it which makes the position “more enjoyable.”

She believes that this season should be the most exciting one yet, Huller’s dad is the girls varsity coach this year and she hopes that his coaching can help “improve our stats.”

“Post pandemic, not everyone is ready to head back into a sport which is difficult when trying to form a well-rounded team,” said Huller, but she believes that we will still make the best out of this season.

Huller has played basketball since she was in first grade and her dad has been her coach every time since then, basketball is by far her favorite sport even though she has decided not to play this year.

Junior Jenna Amrhein is looking forward to this season and is “very excited,” this year. She is looking forward to the team dinners and the practices.

Amrhien is looking forward to the games at Harford Tech and the game at Hereford because her cousin is “on that team so that should be exciting.”

She feels good going into this season because “[we] have a pretty good team,” and “[we] have a lot of talent.” Amrhien has played basketball before in the past 4-6 grade and then again freshman year.

Varsity coach Wayne Huller missed the competition and also “seeing how the team improved over the course of the season.”

Coach Huller is glad to have returning players that he has coached in the past back in action this season, “it is great to see their progression and skills over the years.” He is looking forward to seeing how the team will come together this year with old and new players.
