Netflix announces Big Time Rush will be coming to screens on March 26

Netflix announced in February that Nickelodeon’s hit show Big Time Rush will be coming to screens everywhere on March 26. The boys of BTR took to Instagram to release the big announcement by creating a video that shows a group chat.
The video starred each of the boys, sending videos of themselves, all preparing for something, but viewers weren’t sure what. The last text of the video was a release date from Netflix itself.
Big Time Rush members Carlos PenaVega, Logan Henderson, Kendall Scmidt, and James Maslow each reposted the video on their individual Instagram accounts. Each post gained thousands of likes and comments rather quickly.
Stephen Glickman, who played the band’s producer Gustavo Rocque on the show, commented on PenaVega’s post with “GET IN THE STUDIO DOGS’, his signature line throughout the show. Teen Nick also commented on PenaVega’s post with “oh oh ohH OOOOH”, which may sound familiar as it’s the beginning of the show’s theme song.
The show was aired November 28, 2009 on Nickelodean. It follows the story of four hockey players from Minnesota navigating through Hollywood when they’re selected by mega music producer Gustsvo Rocque to form a boy band.
The series consisted of seventy-four episodes that were released over the span of four years. The show is the sixth longest-running live-action series on Nickelodean to date. The show came to an end in 2013, when each of the boys who were not so boys anymore decided to focus on their solo music careers.
In addition to the series, a film adaptation was released in March of 2012. The movie follows the group as they visit London during their world tour. It pays tributes to The Beatles, which Kendall calls “the greatest band to exist”. The band just happens to save the world during their trip, and cover multiple Beatles hits, including “Help!”, “We Can Work It Out”, “Revolution”, and “A Hard Day’s Night”.
Students of North Harford who grew up watching the show throughout middle school are just as excited for the release. In a poll of 160 students, 92% of people said they couldn’t wait for the series to come back. Sophomore Lily Jerscheid said the show was “long overdue” and added that she “can’t wait to binge watch the show after school. It’ll be middle school all over again.”
Senior Shanyn Wolfe said that BTR is “such a nostalgic show from when we were younger so it’s great to be able to rewatch it”. Junior Abbey Huneke said in an interview, “I’m excited! I never really watched the show growing up, so I’m excited to watch the whole thing and see what the hype is about”.
Netflix has yet to release whether they will be putting all four seasons of the show or simply a limited part of the series. Fans are now requesting a “Big Time Reunion Tour”, when the pandemic is over, that sparked from the band reuniting via Zoom amid the shutdown back in April of 2020. The band released a socially distanced acoustic cover of their song Worldwide, with the caption “These challenging times around the world have made us want to connect with all of you so much. They have also made us want to stay connected with each other. We got inspired to record and sing together again seeing how many smiles our check in video created weeks back. We spent some time recently recording one of our favorite songs (safely apart) and wanted to share it with you all as our small way of saying thank you. We are sending love to all of you WORLDWIDE. Please take care of yourselves, take care of each other, pls take care of all of your fellow neighbors. We’ll be thinking about you…”.
