Busy Brown!
There are many students thoroughly involved in their passions, in and out of school, and senior Jennifer Brown is no different. As a student at NHHS, she has found her niche in FFA.
Brown has been involved with the FFA for four years, and currently serves as the FFA president. Being involved in the FFA since her freshman year has allowed her to begin working her way to the top. As a sophomore, she started out as a reporter and then became vice president during her junior year.
Outside of school Brown stays active training her new horse, Blue, on her own horse farm that her grandfather has given her. She enjoys trail riding with Blue even how he, “decided to go swimming with me right on his back, which is the reason for my new phone.” Brown also spends a majority of her time working at The Mill, handling much of what she’s familiar with, agricultural material. Outside of school, Brown can also be found showing beef cattle.
She has two heifers that she shows currently and said, “I decided to leave them nameless so I just called them by their tag numbers, 36 and 47.” She travels with them all around the mid-atlantic region showing them in different competitions. “It’s a lot of work training them and getting them to where they need to be but it’s worth it when you place well in a show
She also made it a point to say that she loves hunting. Brown spends a great deal of her time in a tree stand during hunting season. Although she’s concerned about the amount of free time she’ll actually have this year to hunt since she already has more on her plate this year, balancing her time between FFA, school work and working at The Mill and with Blue.
When asked about her college plans, Brown says that she will attend Harford Community College for the first 2 years to finish her prerequisite classes and then transfer to the University of Kentucky where she will major in agriculture.
Brown says that she enjoys her life and being involved in many different aspects but it can get to be a lot sometimes and that she wishes she has some more downtime to spend with Blue, and with her boyfriend of 4 years and North Harford graduate, Lucas Beavers.
