PROGRESSING STORY: Last year, the language department considered discontinuing German as a class offered to students. As the new school year progresses, this issue is being “reexamined,” according to Spanish teacher Mrs. Mary Capellan.
The Spanish teacher explains that “it’s something we are going to discuss in the World Language Department, and also with administration.” She continues, “regardless of whether we phase out the program, any students currently enrolled in German will have the option to continue on to the next level.” Currently, there are students enrolled in German two, three, and four. “So at a minimum, German three and four will be offered next year so that those students already taking the language can move on to the next level.”
The teacher expresses, “I think it is a shame when financial restrictions force us to limit our course offerings for the students of North Harford.” She finalizes, “To be honest, I don’t know what is going to happen yet. It depends a lot on the budget next year.”
