North Harford’s social studies department welcomed a new teacher from Cecil County, Mr. Jackson Hart, to The Nest this year. This is Hart’s first year teaching at NH. He briefly taught in Delaware for a time, where he taught cultural studies and U.S. history.
Hart attended the University of Delaware where he got his bachelor’s degree. As of right now, Hart teaches college sociology as well as U.S. history.
According to The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, “Sociology is the scientific study of society, human behavior, and the relationships between people and groups. It’s a diverse subject ranging from crime to religion, from the family to the state, from the divisions of race and social class to the shared beliefs of a common culture, and from social stability to radical change in whole societies.“
Hart stated, “What made me decide to come to NH was that it is a very beautiful school. The students, teachers, and staff are all super nice and welcoming as well.” He continued, “It’s just such a great working environment and community that I wanted to be a part of. I thought NH was the right place to be for me.”
Hart plans on sometimes getting involved in baseball, as well as cross-country, in the future. He stated, “I really just want to get involved in the sports and the coaching scene because I enjoy helping students and athletes.”
Despite living in Maryland, Hart is a huge Yankees fan. He stated,” I know a lot of people don’t like hearing that I’m a Yankee fan, but it’s true. However, I’m glad everyone is nice about it here.”
Hart stated, “I was inspired to become a teacher because I love being involved in the community. I think for me that’s my number one thing about being a teacher. You get to be a part of a community right off the bat and be welcomed and accepted by everyone.”
He continued, “I thought NH had one of the best communities I’ve ever seen in a school, so that’s why I wanted to come here. I wanted to become part of a community and help out.”
