Sammi Flickenger performing in Streetlamp productions of Babes in Toyland

Senior, Samantha “Sammi” Flickinger, will soon be dancing, singing, and acting the night away in Streetlamp productions of the holiday classic Babes in Toyland.

Flickinger  just recently started going to Rising Suns’ little black box theater, Streetlamp Productions, but already she’s having the time of her life doing what she loves.

Flickinger reports that she is in a  production of Babes in Toyland.  “I am playing Little Red Riding Hood. It’s a cute, family musical that tells the story of all Mother Goose land and all Mother Goose fairy tale characters. It’s a story about how Mary quite Contrary goes off on an adventure to toyland that way she can get a job and pay the mortgage for her mother. It’s a cute family play that’s Christmas themed.”

North Harford’s very own drama teacher Mrs. Green reflects on Flickinger’s time spent in drama at NHHS. “She is directing the Drama Three black box show as a matter of fact…has done theater here and continues to do theater here and is a leader in her class.”

Even though Flickinger may be performing outside of NHHS, Green still supports her in her performances, “I think it’s wonderful, I support that [performing outside of North Harford] 100%, the more experience a student has in theater and the more variety of experiences. I think it’s really good for students to experience working with other directors and other groups. I think it’s good for them so I totally 100% encourage and support it and try to share it. I think it’s one of the best things they can do, I wish I could get out and see some more of their production and I love when their friends go out and see them perform.”

To prepare for the play Flickinger recalled, “We practice [like] 2-3 times a week, it’s a full on musical with dancing, singing, and all that jazz.”
