Working through summer; Students talk about fun summer jobs

Many students have exciting summer jobs that are starting up soon or have already started this season. Open your ears to hear about the fun stuff you can get into.
Senior Jackson Miller explains that he has his own landscaping business. Miller Brother services is a landscaping business, with Miller as the face of the business. His two younger brothers often help with the workload, to get a little spending money.
“I really love having my own business because I like being my own boss,” Miller states. He says that he does not enjoy being bossed around by others and likes making his own schedule and doing things his own way.
“Having my two brothers help me with my work is fun because I like having somebody to keep me company throughout the day,” Miller says. He says he thinks working with his brothers makes their relationship better and makes their bond closer.
“I like having a good relationship with the people in my family so spending this time with my brothers is always really important to me, and I really enjoy working with them,” Miller says.
Sophomore Madalyn Rutch got a job at a small snack shop at Bayside Beach in Maryland. “I wanted a fun simple job to get a little money this summer and thought working at the beach would be a dream,” Rutch states.
“The snack shop is only a few blocks away from my house at bayside, which is convenient since then I can walk to my job every day since I do not have my license,” Rutch says. She explains that her and her younger brother both got a job there which will make starting out easier since she will have a familiar face nearby.
“The only other job I have had is babysitting so I am really looking forward to this experience of a real job,” Rutch states. She explains that she is looking forward to the new challenge and learning new skills through this job.
Junior Vance Haire says he loves lifeguarding at the North Harford Swim Club every summer for the past few years. “I really love being outside in the sun all the time during my summers,” Haire states.
“The environment there is always positive and the people I work with are easy to get along with and have become good friends to me,” Haire explains. The lifeguard explains it is a fun way to make money during the summer and make friends.
There are multiple opportunities for creative jobs in the area to keep you busy during the summer. Get out there and get going.
