Hawkey girls prepare for postseason;
Confidence boosted after win over Bulls
Hawkey. Fhockey. They are called many things, but they will always be field hockey.
North Harford is home to a field hockey team that is definitely considered elite. After rebuilding with basically a new team, the girls have excelled. According to Coach Carla Harward the team is led by senior captain Bailey Saneman, who was chosen as Athlete of the Month. She shows “consistent play in every game and leadership qualities,” said Harward.
With only a few games left the girls will end the season with a respectable winning record. They had to overcome their loss against C. Milton Wright.
“Every game is a learning experience. We have to put it [CMW game] behind us and move on,” said Harward.
The team is focusing on the postseason now. Winning against the Hereford Bulls on NH’s Senior Night on October 9 really boosted the girls’ confidence and showed a peak in their play.
“We came together as a team and didn’t let them [Bulls] scoring bring us down,” said Saneman.
Even with an early goal by the Bulls, the Hawks controlled the game that led to a 2-1 win for the Hawks.
