Boys volleyball snatches 2nd at counties
Boys volleyball managed to pull through a rough season as they finished with a 7-7 record against some tough competition. With the loss of four seniors last year, there were those who took it as their duty to step up and lead their team to victory.
Finishing with a .500 record, they concluded the season with a second place victory at Counties, only losing to their biggest rival, Fallston. Junior captains Jake Knox and Nick Benway agree that their losses to Fallston on Senior Night and in the championship game at Counties were their biggest regrets on the season.
“I’m really excited at how well we played throughout the season. We improved a lot and overcame lots of adversity,” head coach Kristopher Kapinos acknowledges.
Even with the tough losses, they still acknowledge their vital wins over rivals like Bel Air, Harford Tech, and C. Milton.
For the Hawks, second place at regionals is not nearly enough. All captains agree that they have to refine their hitting, blocking, and defensive skills if they want to sweep Counties next season.
“We have a good outlook next season, with the number of seniors we have moving up,” said Benway.
