Hockey girls finish strong
The field hockey team ended its season finished its season with a 9-6 record
The girls were coached by Carla Harward and led by senior captains Rachel Baca, Juliet Dolinar, and Bailey Saneman. The team credits their willingness to work together to their success.
“The fact that we were a new team playing together for the first time, we had an outstanding season,” said Harward.
The highlight of the season was the team’s win against the Hereford Bulls on Senior Night.
“We came together as a team and didn’t let them scoring bring us down,” said senior captain Saneman.
The girls didn’t allow an early goal by the Bulls to ruin their game. The Hawks held the Bulls to a single goal, ending the game with a 2-1 victory for the Hawks. However they also had their downfalls.
They lost to C. Milton Wright twice, both were hard loses. The first came under difficult circumstances, according to Harward. The second loss ended the season for the team.
“Because we were so close, it made us work well together,” said sophomore Sarah Jackson.
Since the team was new this year, the girls will be stronger next year and even closer.
