Boys Basketball
Zach Helewicz dribbles down the court in the boys varsity basketball game against Hereford on December 7. The Hawks fell to the Bulls 52 to 37. The Hawks have suffered some tough blows already this season, including injuries of crucial players. The boys are starting off to a rough couple of losses but they still have a majority of the season to turn it around. Coached by Gym teacher Jeffrey Burrows, the team has a long way to go to turn around their season. The team is pretty evenly split with under and upperclassmen. Four seniors and one freshman are on the team this year. Kyle Munson, the team manager, hurt his ankle before tryouts this year during a travel soccer game and is preventing him from being on the court this season. He says, “As hard as it is to just watch and not be allowed on the court, I’m grateful that I still get to be apart of the team and support the boys from the sidelines. The guys have had a rough start but we gel together pretty well so I think things are going to turn around for us soon. We’ve been practicing pretty hard to get where we want to be so I’m hopeful for the rest of the season.”
