Taylor Swift tells the public that her Grammy-winning album from 2008, Fearless, is being rerecorded as Taylor’s Version this year. One song from the album, Love Story: Taylor’s Version, has already been released on February 12.

Swift has not announced the release date for the album yet, but she is planning on releasing the full album later this year. There are going to be 26 tracks on the album, 6 of which are new unreleased tracks that were written by Swift during her early songwriting ages through 16 and 18, according to New Musical Express.

Sophomore Noa Blanken says, “I’m excited […] it’s such a good album, the bar is so high.” Since the only song that has been released so far is Love Story: Taylor’s Version, she says, “it was good, but like hard to tell a difference [from the original].” Blanken says, “I don’t think they’ll [old album and new album] will be comparable. Her first album was groundbreaking, the bar is so high that no matter what she releases [it] won’t please everyone you know.”

Blanken shares that her favorite song of Swift’s is The way I loved you or All too well. She says the bridge makes those songs her favorite, “her voice is so powerful.” Blanken says she prefers Taylor’s old music, “each song was so unique, now her songs all kind of sound the same.”

Like Blanken, Sophomore Autumn Tagliaferri says her favorite song of Swift’s is All too well because of, “how beautiful it is lyrically, and everyone is able to relate to it in a different way. There is so much emotion and passion and it’s such a good song to scream in the car.”

Tagliaferri says that she likes Taylor’s old music and her new music equally, “I love her old music because I grew up to it, but I love her new music just because of the way she’s [Swift] evolved after all the criticism and everything she’s gone through.” She says, “I love the new version [of Love Story] because of the way she’s evolved but I don’t think one is better than the other.”

Tagliaferri has high expectations for the new album, “I think she will execute it very well.” She adds, “I think nothing can be better than the older one because it’s such a memory and it was so amazing in its time, but the new one will be so amazing because it’s her own.”
