Sports for life is a program that allows special needs kids to work with gen ed partners to help
them feel included in games such as bocce ball, basketball, corn hole, and bowling.
On Monday, April 13, 2026 the following students played for sports for life basket ball: #4 christian Marble, #29 Eugene Liebel, #7 Brooke Devaul and #45 Michael Carico. The following students helped with sports for life:Gavin Powell, Harrison Ucciferro, Dani Brodsky, Breanna Workman, Abram Ramirez, Sam Gibson, Lila Parry, Reese Conklin, Ashley Picha, and Margot Mejia. The following teachers also contributed with sports for life: Ms. Murday, Ms. Tembo, Ms. Kelly, and Ms. Grams. This year the sports for life basketball tournament was hosted by C. Milton Wright High School. Sadly, the hawks lost to C Milton Wright: NHHS -8 CMWHS -22 but in the end sports aren’t about winning they’re about learning, having fun and bonding with your teammates. When interviewed Ms. Kelly and Ms. Grams, two teachers that worked with the players, they were asked who they thought the MVP was, and they both said “they all did really well. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.” Another question they answered was if they would say sports for life brought everyone together more and Ms. Gram answered with “they always like working with gen ed and vice versa, they all felt comfortable, and I think at the end of the day, it made them want to maybe leave the door open for sports in the future.”
