As of September 21, 2022, the show Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has become one of the most well-known shows on Netflix.

According to biography.com, Dahmer was an American serial killer who took the lives of 17 males between 1978 and 1991. Over the span of more than 13 years, Dahmer would pick out men at gay bars, malls, and bus stops, and lured them home with promises of money or sex. When they would arrive at his home, he would give the guy a drink that was laced with drugs and then proceed to strangle them until they were no longer alive.

Dahmer was finally arrested on July 22, 1991. According to history.com, he entered a plea of guilty but insane in 15 of the 17 murders he confessed to committing. In February 1992, the jury found him sane in each murder, and he was sentenced to 15 consecutive life sentences.

In his jail time, Dahmer caught on a lot of fame and would get a lot of fan mail. On November 28, 1994, Dahmer was beaten to death by Christopher Scarver, a fellow inmate.

Sophomore MeKenna Scott says, “I watched the show, and I really liked it, but I didn’t know about him before the show. I could finish the show, but it was pretty gross in some parts, like when he was cooking the body parts.”

Scott continues, “It was pretty scary and weird. I don’t know why someone would want to eat humans.”

Junior Bella Brockmeyer says she has seen the show before, and she knew about Dahmer before the show was made.

Brockmeyer says, “Evan Peters played Dahmer amazingly. I think that they couldn’t have found anyone better to play that role. Especially because horror is his thing and Jeffery Dahmer [was] one of the most disgusting people in the world.”

She continues, “I also just loved how realistic it is. It was disgusting but so cool, it was just great. I’ve seen documentaries about him before, but this one was good just because the outline of it from him getting caught and then rewinding to finding his first victims and going up was really nice, the timeline was just really good.”
