On Dec. 6, 2022, the annual Game Awards took place. This event was started in 2014 and gives awards to nominated games that released or were popular within the year.

The most recognized award was Game of the Year. This was given out to Elden Ring, a fantasy role-playing game that focuses on combat and adventure. Elden Ring is a very popular game which released Feb. 25, 2022 and has scored a rating of 9/10 on Steam from users.

A close second to Game of the Year would be God of War Ragnarök. This was another game favored by viewers. God of War won the most number of awards with a total of five, Elden Ring seconds this in winning 4 awards.
