Student to teacher in Harford County; Change in communities for NH staff

Staff, Reporter

Ms. Patricia Murdy- Joppatowne High School alumna

It was very different at Joppa; everything is much more relaxed and calm at North Harford. In terms of supplies and equipment, kids have a lot more resources here. At Joppa, we only had the basics; I didn’t realize how lucky students are here to have all of the equipment they do compared to my high school.

I went to a rival school, there weren’t many distinct differences between North Harford student life vs. Fallston. It was very similar, both schools are in middle class communities and students with good values. The rivalry has definitely built up since then.”

Mr. Eugene Liebel- Fallston High School alumnus

I went to Fallston, North Harford and my high school are almost identical in terms of student life. The only big difference between now and then is the use of phones during school and in general. North Harford is definitely superior.

‘Things were mostly the same.  There were different cliques.  We didn’t have the strong “farm” presence that NH has.  We had a lot of skaters in the ‘80s.  We didn’t have so many kids with jobs and fancy cars.  Sports were big, I never even went to a drama event.  I don’t think we had a musical. My favorite memory was playing in the state championship for soccer in 1987.”
