Baltimore Agape House Mission Trip

“To provide food, clothing, shelter, and the Gospel of Christ to disadvantaged persons in the Baltimore Metropolitan area,” is the mission of the Agape House according to agapehouseinc.com.

Bel Air United Methodist Church’s youth group went on a mission trip in Baltimore City to the Agape House from July 28 to August 2.

The youth group put on a day camp for the people who come to the agape house. Elementary aged children were split up into four crews in the morning and rotated through vacation bible school stations including bible, games, and crafts. In the afternoon the kids chose which station they wanted to go to, some of the afternoon stations were fashion, cooking, water games, and science.

Preschool kids were taken to a preschool room where they had a bible lesson and a craft that went along with it. In the afternoon the preschoolers watched a movie and did a fun activity like playing with a parachute.

The youth group’s adult leaders had both a teen group, and a moms group that did bible study while the other kids were in their stations.

“I had a great time with everyone this week,” said adult leader Mark Ciampaglio.

To prepare for the trip the mission team met every other Tuesday throughout the spring and planned out who was in charge of each station and what the stations would do every day.

On Tuesday instead of afternoon stations everyone took bus to a pool near the Baltimore Zoo and swam for 3 hours.

On Friday, the final day of the camp, instead of the mission team having the camp at the Agape House, everyone came to the church in Bel Air and the mission team had a fair set up that included a blow up waterslide, dunk tank, face painting, and other games.

Many people who went on the mission trip have decided to go back to visit the agape house once a month and have a Saturday school for the kids.
