The Baltimore Orioles started their season on April 4. The kickoff to the season free admission, live music, food, and games to play.

The kickoff to the 2019 season did not look very strong for the Orioles after losing multiple star players. These players include Manny Machado and Adam Jones. However, the Orioles did keep many of their value players including Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo. The orioles did welcome rookies, some of which are standing out. This includes pitcher John Means.

Despite their record in the 2019, Orioles games are something that many supporters and sports goers enjoy. Junior Matt Weir says that, “It’s fun to watch the game with friends of family.” Despite how the Orioles are doing, “the experience is fun with the food and games.”

Camden Yards, the home of the Orioles has many activities and things to see during the game. The famous Eutaw Street, where home runs are marked with brass balls on the sidewalk, according to mlb.com. Eutaw street also includes places to eat. The Orioles Hall of Fame, and is open during game time and batting practices.

Orioles also support many community programs and charities. This includes Shannon’s Fund, an annual donation to the University of Maryland Medical Center to help patients with financial aid, in memory of Shannon Obaker, the team’s former Director of Community Outreach, who fought cancer in 2007.

The Orioles also participate in giving fans promotional items, many of which match holidays and celebrations. On Saturday May 4, Camden Yards is honoring Star Wars with handing out a “Star Wars Night BB-8 Beanie”. On Mother’s day, the ballpark will be giving Mother’s Day infinity bracelets to its game-goers.

The ballpark has been struggling to fill their stadium like they used to. The season started off well according to Weir, but people should understand that “it’s a team of a lot of new people.” The student added that when the current players get more experience, “they could be better in the future’.”

Junior Kelsie Collier added that to encourage more fans to attend the games is to advertise “for fun activities.” People like when they receive free items that make the game more memorable so Collier said that “giving away fun stuff,” could increase the people at the games.
