For seniors Noah Altenburg and Tony Dellarose they’ve dreamed of being recruited for college lacrosse. Dellarose made his recruitment to Cabrini and Altenburg to Stevenson in 2021.

Dellarose states that it has been a goal for him to play in college ever since he was young. Altenburg says that he started to want to play in college when he got to high school.

Altenburg says, “the recruiting process was hard especially with Covid; it was hard to get noticed because most colleges were not coming out to tournaments. Dellarose adds that “the recruiting process can be stressful but it’s also a really exciting time.”

Dellarose said that he was drawn to Cabrini because “I loved the campus as well as the town around Cabrini. I also liked being close to Philadelphia which can give me many opportunities.” “The school is small so there is a lot of one-on-one time with teachers, so it will not be a big jump from high school,” adds Altenburg.

Dellarose says that he had other offers but, “I chose Cabrini because I loved the school and the coach. Also having the ability to compete for the national championship every year.” Altenburg says that he only wanted to play at Stevenson so he did not get other offers because he did not pursue other colleges. Both Stevenson and Cabrini are both division three schools.

For many high school juniors and seniors hoping to be recruited for college playing in tournaments provides an opportunity for colleges to see you play and get in contact. Altenburg says “I never played in a tournament where Stevenson was recruiting so I had to go to their scouting day.” “Tournaments definitely helped a lot and allowed me to play in front of a lot of coaches. However it’s important to reach out to coaches and get them to your games,” adds Dellarose.

“I probably would have still been recruited without tournaments because I had to do all the work to reach out to Stevenson and send them highlights of my games. They have a lot of people they are recruiting so they can not come to a tournament for everyone. I had to go to their scouting days and email them a lot to get their attention. If I waited for them to come to me after a tournament they would have never come,” says Altenburg.
