The student has made many friends in his short time here. Some of this can be accredited to his participation on the boys soccer team.

Foreign exchange student Santiago “Yago” Garcia has left Spain to visit The Nest. In his home country, the student is a Sophomore but here, he is a junior.

The junior arrived at the start of August excited to experience a new place. He explains that his “friends are also exchange students who went to other places,” and this made him interested in studying abroad. While his friends went to other countries such as England, Garcia preferred the United states.

The student chose the US due to his athletic background. He says, “it is very funny when everyone comes to the games.” One of the differences that the Junior has noticed is the difference in eating schedules across the globe. While in Spain, locals would “eat at 10 or 10:30 pm,” Americans eat their meals much earlier.

Garcia believes that “it is very good here.” His favorite thing about North Harford is the soccer team. While the athlete very much enjoys time here in the US, he still misses his “family and friends back in Spain.”

One of the biggest differences that Garcia has noticed in America is that “here, the people smoke a lot.” He explains that “here, some drugs are legal, but in Spain, any drug is illegal.”
