The grammys of North Harford’s drama department, students recognized at end of year ceremony

These aren’t the grammys but they’re as close as North Harford can get. On Wednesday May 12, the annual International Thespian Society induction ceremony will take place in North Harford’s library.
Preparation for the ceremony has been going on since April and the officers of the society meet frequently to prepare for the event.
“We start preparing for the ceremony in early April. Induction into ITS is an honor, considering it is a national honors society.” said president Lane Wisnom.
The officers, including Wisnom, are Nina Cicero- vice president, Delaney Allen- secretary, Haley Sturgill and Helen Grafton- co-treasurers, and Delanie Blomquist-historian.
All of the officers, in collaboration with drama teacher, Nancy Green, have been working hard to make sure the ceremony runs smoothly.
“The officers and I, being president, hope it will turn out well and end with many new additions to our ITS troupe 7045.” said Wisnom.
To be inducted into the International Thespian Society a student must have acquired at least 200 theater hours. These hours are earned through performances in either the main stage musical or in drama/blackbox shows.
The induction also features a review of all the shows put on throughout the year including Fiddler on the Roof, Addicted and Cinderella, Cinderella.
Another important part of the ceremony are the annual awards. Some of the popular categories include Best Actor/Actress and Best Supporting Actor/Actress.
Nominees in these categories include Cry of the Hawk staff members Kevin Snee in the best supporting actor category and The Niche members Shiloh McCurry and Julia Scheinberg both in best supporting actress categories.
Other unique categories include Best Techie and the Un-Sung Hero.
“We hope the ceremony will go well and I look forward to having a great final ceremony as part of North Harford’s drama department.” said Wisnom.
