On Sept. 20, 2019 Clear Meadow Farms bloomed their billowing field of sunflowers lining Jarrettsville and brightening everyone’s day. As the flowers bloomed, photographers, locals, and visitors from as far as Ohio come out to capture images of the photogenic field.

While visitors were not allowed to cut down sunflowers for themselves, volunteers from local churches worked on creating bundles and bouquets of the beautiful flowers. Selling them for $1 a piece and six for $5, each volunteer handed these bouquets of happiness with a smile. Admission into the fields was $5 per car, donations were also accepted and 100 percent are going towards local mission projects and churches.

The farmer who planted the sunflowers did not gain any financial benefit, only many compliments and smiles from visitors and their furry companions. While the sound of seeing thousands of bees may not be pleasant to many, the sight of these pollinators was amazing. The bees were only interested in the flowers and buzzed past the visitors with joy from flower to flower.

This spot by the intersection in Jarrettsville is quite the destination for wedding, maternity, and family photos. Anyone looking to up their social media game is bound to end up in these fields of yellow to capture some self portraits. Not only do the fields bring in a hefty profit for church donations but also a great opportunity for photographers to build their businesses.

Since thousands travel from all areas to see the flowers it can be quite chaotic, parking is very simple with a large field reserved for cars right next to the flowers. After soaking up the sun with the flowers and capturing a few photos many suggest heading to one of the sunflowers big supporters, the Jarrettsville Creamery and Deli. They offer ice cream and lots of other delicious snacks. Along with snacks, the sunflowers sell drinks, cookies, and chips for $1 each.

The volunteers and staff were nothing but cheery and welcoming to all visitors coming from far and wide. When the opportunity comes to check this amazing sight off of your bucket list, Jarrettsville at the end of September is the place to be.
