According to the Mayo Clinic, meditation is considered a type of mind-body medicine. Meditation has been known to create a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind. Meditation is used to help control and eliminate stress. The Good Body talks about how the number of people who meditate has more than tripled since 2012. It goes on to state that the number of children practicing has increased more than 800%. Meditation is also the second most popular mind and body practice in the United States after yoga. Good Body goes on to state that meditation is not associated with any certain religion but is deeply engrained in Hinduism and Buddhism.
