North Harford’s time to show their Green and Gold

Back to school isn’t always exciting but this time of the year means one thing; football and homecoming. When October comes around, spirits are high and so are the nerves.

When it comes to homecoming, there are so many things to look forward to. North Harford always has a spirit week to get the whole school pumped up. Spirit Week this year will be held during the week of October 7. The days have not yet been chosen but as soon as they are, posters will be hung around the school. A few days that students are really hoping make this year’s spirit week are Twin Day and Superhero Day. Of course, what would spirit week be without our well known Duck Farmer Day. Make sure you don’t miss all the fun costume days and the beloved Green & Gold day on Friday.

Along with dressing up, no one can forget the homecoming football game. It will be held against Aberdeen High School at 7pm. The festivities will begin promptly after school, so get there early. A lot of different booths will be set up as well. For example, face painting and cotton candy have been there in years past. At the end of the game, everyone sticks around to watch the fireworks and hang out with friends.

Eventually, the crowd will head home just to get up early and get ready to have the time of their lives Saturday night; Homecoming dance! It starts at 8pm on October 12 when everyone shuffles into the cafeteria and waits until the crowd gets excited and dances the night away.

“I can’t wait to dance and hang out with my friends,” says freshman Ray Burton.

The dance is stopped eventually about halfway through to introduce the Homecoming court and crown the king and queen of the dance. Then everyone dances until it’s all over at 11pm
