Alexzandria McDowell was a part of a tragic car accident back on November 17, 2012, one that took 3 lives [including McDowell] and severely injured 2 others.

Family and friends of McDowell have been organizing many fundraisers in her memory, the most recent one being the Angels Among Us fundraiser, back in May at the Harford County 4-H Camp. The fundraiser made a profit of roughly $4000 total and the money was split and donated among the Darlington and Whiteford Volunteer Fire Companies and the Relay for Life charity.

On November 2, from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company, McDowell’s family will be hosting a memorial blood drive in honor of her 21st birthday. Red Cross asked that you call 1-800-733-2767 to schedule a life saving donation.

“Alexz had made it a goal to give, to help in saving lives and I feel it only necessary in her love, spirit, and memory, that we celebrate her 21st birthday to honor that. She had a tattoo on her left side that said ‘Vivere,’ which in Italian means, ‘to live.’ I hope that her life resonates those words to all. She will always be beautiful and is so very missed,” said McDowell’s mother, Kelli McDowell.

McDowell’s family had recently established a non-profit organization called Allot of Alexz. The charity will be dedicated to giving to families in crisis in our community.

“Our goal is to make Allot of Alexz a source of access to our community to give to those who are suffering with crisis,” states the brochure advocating the charitable means of the organization.

The charity can be contacted at [email protected] or on Facebook under Alexzandria McDowell Memorial.

“Twenty years and 12 days Alexz gave so very much to her family and close friends. Those who really knew her, understood and admired her for the very essence of what a beautiful soul she was. I hope that her life, love, and spirit, will resonate through our works,” stated Kelli McDowell.
