New Superintendent visits North Harford; “delighted by the warm welcome.”

New Harford County Public School superintendent Mrs. Barbara Canavan visited North Harford on her way around to visit every one of the schools in the system. Canavan met with the administration and various students selected by the principals at the school.

SGA president Cassidy Miller says, “I’m honored to represent my school in meeting with the superintendent.”

This was Canavan’s first visit to North Harford as the superintendent, but she has been to the school before.
“I am always delighted by the welcome I receive at North Harford. It is a warm, inviting atmosphere,” said Canavan, who enjoyed her visit to the school. “I met with a number of students from NHHS who served as wonderful ambassadors for your school. They were eclectic in their interests hailing from a variety of backgrounds and grade levels.”
One of the students that Mrs. Canavan met with was Kelvin Wu, sophomore. “I don’t know how I was selected for the meeting,” said Wu, “I was called up to the office and I didn’t know what it was for. I was actually very nervous. But once I got up there it wasn’t as nerve wrecking, Mrs. Canavan was very nice.”
Canavan’s main topic for discussion was making sure the students felt comfortable in their school. “Her main concern is making sure we don’t have concerns,” said Miller. Wu said that he and most students feel welcomed at North Harford and they’re never worried about coming to school.
Canavan also was impressed by the mutual respect that students and teachers at North Harford share. While Mrs. Canavan was disappointed that she didn’t get to visit any classrooms, she plans on coming back again and during this subsequent, she plans to visit classrooms.
