NH students saving Earth

L.O.R.A.X., Lovers of Recycling and Xylem, are ready for their fresh start at saving the environment.

L.O.R.A.X. is a club that any and every student can participate in and help clean up the earth.

“We are an environmental club that gives students an opportunity to save the world around us,” said Joseph Miller, senior and president of the L.O.R.A.X. club.

The club this year has many ideas and projects that they plan to take on.

“We are going to take in one of the flower beds outside the office/gym, and design it so it is better,” said Miller. “We hope to install permanent recycling receptacles in either Rocks State Park or in Rec Center in the Harford County arena.”

They also will be a part of the America’s Recycling day.

“We will be participating in the America Recycle day during lunch to emphasize the need to recycle on a daily bases,” said Miller. “We hope that students see the importance of throwing their trash in a recycle bin then a trash can.”

But saving the world is not the only thing on their agenda.

“We will be having an after school Christmas party to celebrate the holidays with our follow L.O.R.A.X. members,” said Miller. “At the party we will be making Christmas ornaments out of recycled materials.”

“I can’t wait for the party,” said Emily Slaby, senior. “I think that it is awesome that the materials we are using are recycled.”

“I think that it really drives the point home that recycled items can have different purposes, like christmas ornaments for the holidays,” said Miller

The L.O.R.A.X. club is still open to new members joining the club.

“If you are interested in joining you can either talk to Mrs. O’Leary or myself, Joseph Miller,” said Miller.
