Unexpected death of Robin Williams startles fans

Robin Williams, otherwise known as “the funniest man on Earth” took his own life at age 63 on August 11, 2014 in his own home located in Paradise Cay, California.

Williams spent his final days close to home. The late actor was last photographed at an art gallery reception in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Susan Schneider. According to nydailynews.com, Williams looked “frail in the snaps as he wore eyeglasses and was dressed in all black”. The artist, Mark Jaeger, told TMZ that Williams “seemed in good spirits” and was “laughing frequently” at the event. What many of Williams fans do not know is that he struggled with substance abuse and was also diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression. He was recently diagnosed with the early stages of Parkinson’s disease. Though his sobriety was “intact” at the time of his death, the reason behind his suicide is still unknown to millions.

Williams spent so much of his life helping others. Whether he was entertaining millions on stage, film or television, our troops on the frontlines, Williams wanted everyone to laugh and be happy. Starring in more than 15 movies, Williams was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor three times and won the Academy Award for the Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Good Will Hunting. He received two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and five Grammy Awards. Since his passing, every person who loved, and was close to Williams found some solace in the tremendous outpouring of affection and admiration for him from the millions of people whose lives he touched.
