North Harford musicians geared up for the All-County auditions last week. The auditions for All-County chorus and band were held November 13, and performing artists all over the school were excited for the opportunity.

“I’m excited for All-County weekend, I think I was well prepared for auditions,” said senior chorus member Noah League. League has been in the choir for four years and has sung in All-County before. League sings in three different choirs at North Harford: Harmonics, Chamber, and Majestics.

“All-County auditions consist of sight reading, which for me I can play on snare, marimba or timphony,” said Sarah Dickerson, senior. Dickerson has also participated in All-County band in the past and sat in the third chair in her section. She plays percussion, which consists of drums and various other instruments.
“It’s a really fun weekend for all of us involved, it’s a collaboration of the best musicians in the county,” said Sean Graff, Senior, “It’s pretty insane though, you do a lot of playing, but at the end you get a pretty cool certificate.”

Auditions were held at Bel Air High School, and fans can look forward to the concerts on February 5-7 and rehearsal is on January 27. Guest conductors come in to direct the students for both band and chorus. Dr. Matthew Fritz will work with the chorus, and the bands conductor is unknown.
“I’m really excited for All-County chorus this year,” said Brittany Hadaway, senior, “it will be my first year in the program and I’m going to love to work with musicians from all over the county.” Hadaway has been a choir member for all four years of high school as well. She sings in Chamber, Harmonics, Bel Canto, and is the student conductor of the Womens’ Choir.

“The girls were very prepared for the audition. Mrs. Jones does a great job helping us get ready, we go over the audition pieces in class every day,” said Hadaway.

“I’m excited, but also nervous,” said Sarah Burton, Freshman, moments before her audition, “I practiced at home and I think I’m well prepared.”
