Brand new to North Harford this year is Mrs. Erika Edwards. Edwards is a new addition to the career and technology department.

This year, Edwards’ teaching load includes foundations, edible plants, plant prop, greenhouse and capstone.

A recent graduate of the University of Delaware, Edwards came to North Harford to start her career. Besides student teaching, this is her first teaching experience.

Edwards said so far,  she’s really liking North Harford! “The kids are great and the teachers are really helpful and are willing to help me,” said Edwards.

Edwards has big plans for this school year, despite it being her first year. She plans to get the greenhouse up and running, the hydroponic systems working and operating, organizing a profitable plant sale in the spring, while also focusing on the content of each of her classes as well.

These are all goals for the school year, but Edwards has a plan for it all.  “I’m actually attending a workshop on hydroponics this week so I’m working to learn more about hydroponics,” explained Edwards.     Edwards is also working on the plant production and greenhouse with her sophomores and working on the hydroponics in the greenhouse with her juniors. “Those classes are the ones that are growing the plants;  it’s all them,” stated Edwards.

Like most new people who arrive at NH, Edwards was quick to garner a first impression about the Hawks Nest.   For Edwards, NHHS is  exactly how she expected it to be, “very agricultural and a good school overall.”
