Hemling, Siegel awarded for outstanding work,

Teachers continue to impact school

In the past two months, 2 of North Harford’s teachers have been recognized by the county for their astonishing work. Ms. Katelyn Hemiling was nominated in January and Mrs. Jessica Siegel was nominated in February.

Vocal Music Teacher and Tri-M music Honor Society Co-Sponsor, Ms. Hemling was recognized in January for her investment in the community, mainly for work her students have done singing in the community during the holidays.

Hemling felt very honored and pleasantly surprised to have been selected. She adds that “here at NH, our teachers go above and beyond all the time and there are so many deserving people.”

The honor she received included a note with the reason she was nominated and received a tumbler with the Limelight logo on it as well as being entered into a raffle. Hemling adds “I was happy to be recognized and it made me feel appreciated.”

As a teacher, Hemling’s goals include always doing her best she can to support her students and provide them with the best opportunities for growth and performance. Her hope is to “have a welcoming class environment and to ensure that my students feel safe and welcome in my classroom.”

Hemling plans to continue her hard work and growth so “I can be the best for my students because that is what they deserve,” she adds.

In February, Social Studies Teacher and School Performance and Achievement (SPA) facilitator, Mrs. Siegel was recognized for her work within the school. Siegel states that she was very surprised because “ I don’t do things for the recognition, but because it is what’s best for our school and the students we serve.”

As the SPA facilitator, Siegel adds that she works with leadership and teachers to make instructional and procedural improvements to our school. They look at data and determine a course of action that would be the most effective and provide the best benefit for the student population, Siegel includes.

All of the honorees were recognized on social media and in school. Siegel received a certificate, a pen and an Amazon gift card, all of which was sponsored by Freedom Federal Credit Union.

Siegel includes, “ I give my best effort to serve the school to the best of my ability. I make decisions because I believe it’s going to be the best for our students.”

Siegel plans to continue always doing her best to serve the students and the community. She adds that the Limelight recognition means she will continue to keep her standards for herself and her work high.
