All American is a drama filled series based on the talented high school football player Spencer James. The show focuses on real life obstacles faced such as race, class, and gangs. If you are into suspenseful and tear drop worthy tv series, then this is the show for you.

The show is inspired by the life of former NFL player Spencer Paysinger. Main character. James comes from a community named Crenshaw where he attends South Crenshaw Highschool. His hometown suffers from a lot of gang related violence, but he makes sure to stay on the right side of the tracks. James’ talent in football impresses Beverly Highschool coach Billy Baker to an offer to play for his team.

In addition, the story then becomes like a stereotypical rag to riches storyline. James moves in with the rich Baker family who live in Beverly Hills. He starts a new high school where he then meets new friends and teammates. He then becomes the new star player for Beverly High.

The new Netflix show is like the Friday Night lights series, a football team chasing their way to states but along the way they face tragedy, loss, heart break, and life changing decisions. The team is more like a family and just like any family comes family drama. Along the way little twists and unexpected events emerge, this keeps viewers on the edge of their seat wondering what is going to come next.

During the series you will see characters face drug addiction, gang violence, racial disadvantages, relationship drama, family dilemmas, and secrets. All that are real world problems, which may be why viewers are so interested in the outcome of every episode. Even though the show may be about football, the show also focuses on how hard it can be to survive in a world full of poverty and racial disadvantages while there are also communities filled with privilege as well.

The first episode aired on October 10, 2018 and can be watched or streamed on Netflix. The series currently has 2 seasons with about 16 episodes. Each episode is about 40 minutes, enough time to interest its watchers.
