Height: 5’11’’

Weight: 190 lbs

Age: 68-years-old

Dennis Rader earned himself the nickname of the BTK killer by successfully binding, torturing and killing 10 or more people between the years 1974 and 1991. Dennisraderbtk.blogspot described Rader as a normal, “unremarkable” child, saying that the BTK Killer “fit in” in his youth. Growing up near Wichita, Kansas, Rader was a boy scout and even attended church. However, no one knew that he was a damaged child and admitted to killing cats and dogs by hanging them during his youth. Rader even served the country; he was a member of the United States Air Force, however many think he only joined to avoid being drafted for the Vietnam War. Through four years of transferring from base to base, Rader worked his way up to sergeant. Everything changed when he returned from service. He committed his first murder in 1974. After spying on the Otero family for weeks he eventually broke in to their home, and choked or hung all four family members. Joe and Julie who were husband and wife. Then, Josie and Joey, who were children ages 11 and 9. Rader’s next victim was 21-year-old Kathryn Bright, who Rader stabbed numerous times in an invasion of her home. He ran away on foot, however Kathryn Bright was able to get up and get to a hospital, where she died four days later. Dennis Rader then left note inside a book in the Wichita library. Police found the note which said, “I did it myself with noone’s help, the code words for me will be… Bind them, toture them, kill them, B.T.K…”. Rader choked and manually killed numerous others between the years of 1974 – 1991, mostly women, and the BTK Killer finally pled guilty in 2005 and is currently still serving a life sentence.
